‘Fire Country’ Recap: Season 1 Episode 12: Did Bode/Gabriela Kiss?

This week on a special Sunday episode of CBS’ Fire countryFreddy in the middle of the big news found time to play match(re)maker, as a mysterious new threat emerged….

The catalyst for this Sunday’s post-AFC Championship game was a runaway skywriting plane, blowing up an engine or something and crashing to the ground. The parachuted pilot was found alive and well, dangling from a tree, but his plane exploded shortly after crashing, sparking multiple mountainside fires.

Manny’s Three Rock inmates teamed up with Vince’s Station 42 crew to fight the fires, with the recurring concern of a home owned by Michael “Forever the Gray’s Anatomy Shooter” O’Neil. Despite Vince’s pleas (and some unsuccessful PSYOPS from Jake and Eve), this Harlan Denbo insisted on staying put, instead accusing the firefighters of protecting his home.

In the midst of all this, Freddy learned from Sharon that his pregnant girlfriend Cookie was on her way for a visit when she went into labor, but still managed to make it to the fire station to deliver their baby (as we had seen earlier).

Elsewhere, we met a new “nugget” (aka a child of a Cal Fire alum) named Collin (played by Days of Our Lives / Y&R‘s Zach Tinker), who on his first day, in the middle of this plane crash, stepped on the wrong boulder and caused a rockfall that nearly crushed part of Manny’s crew. Gabriela took the blame lest her fellow clog not get a fair chance to go, but Collin ultimately nailed the literal misstep.

Realizing that Gabriela and others had already seen the baby he had yet to meet himself, Freddy broke away from the crew and began making tracks to the city, but Bode, with Gabriela watching, convinced him to do the right thing and to stay. . Freddy’s persistence would pay off, as Manny later led him to the Leone homestead, where Vince and Sharon had offered to let Cookie and the newborn sleep for the night – so the proud new dad could see and spend time with his baby daughter .

Speaking of Freddy, when he wasn’t pining to see his kid, he pushed Gaby to give Bode another chance (after Bode scared the hell out of her by punching that biker last episode). In fact, before he left to meet his daughter Freddy firm advised Bode to go and check his equipment at the laundry – where Bode found Gabriela waiting for him. Bode pleaded his case and pulled Gaby into a passionate kiss. Gabriela broke away to tell them all to get some work done and become their best selves, and once Bode has served his time, they can unwrap the “present” that’s waiting for them. But… a second, hotter kiss suggested that they’re both very much inclined to unwrap things NOW, though Gaby somehow dragged herself away from that second, heated clinch.

So, Freddy is a new dad… we have movement on the #Bodiela front… Harlan’s house went up in flames but not before he got his ailing wife and later/barely himself to safety…. and Manny told Vince and Sharon that he is going to enter some OT to get his finances in order and find a place for himself. That was the happy news.

Somewhere in between, the question of who Sharon will receive a donated kidney from got complicated, as Bode is a match and willing (but Sharon is hesitant to accept his offer), while Jake claimed that he is not a match, but actually IS.

And definitely bad news front? A final scene revealed that an unseen someone waltzes through the woods with a gas-powered torch, causing malicious fires…. Too easy to guess it’s Collin, the randomly appearing “nugget”? Or maybe that female prisoner lawyer, who caused a stir because she can’t have Bode?
